  • 1867

    Stannah Founded

    Joseph Stannah begins manufacturing mechanical hoists and cranes in London. 

  • 1925

    Move to America

    Leslie Stannah moves to America to further his engineering skills, before returning to England to work closely with other lift manufacturers. 

  • 1975

    First range of Stannah stairlifts

    Stannah start to design and build their first range of stairlifts, and begin exporting them in 1979. 

  • 1984

    Global Market Leader

    Stannah becomes the global market leader for stairlift manufacture. In 1987 we receive the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement. 

  • 1997

    New range of stairlifts

    Stannah unveil a brand-new range of cutting edge stairlifts, including the revolutionary twin-rail design. 

  • 2001

    200,000th stairlift manufactured

    Stannah manufacture their 200,000th stairlift and the Stannah Group is awarded the Investor in People accreditation.             

  • 2003

    Best UK Manufacturing and Engineering Factory Award

    The DTi present Stannah Stairlifts with an award for the best UK manufacturing and engineering factory. 

  • 2011

    500,000th stairlift manufactured

    Stannah manufacture their 500,000thstairlift and are paid a visit by HRH The Prince of Wales. They are also named in the top 500 Superbrands list for the 3rd time in a row.
