A guide to stairlift prices

When it comes to stairlift prices, not all stairlifts are the same and we take great pride in making sure that we give our customers a solution suited to their individual circumstances. Our guide to stairlift pricing is designed to help you understand the factors that can affect your quote.

How much does a stairlift cost?

Stairlift prices can depend on a number of factors as it’s not just our stairlift rails that are made to measure but our seats can also be tailored to your needs. To establish your stairlift cost our consultants have a number of things to consider. All the factors below will be carefully measured to ensure they can give you an accurate specification and stairlift price quotation:

  • Are your stairs straight or curved?
  • How wide are they? How much headroom is there under the bulkhead? How far will your stair lift travel? Our straight or curved stairlift guide can help you.
  • What are the landings like at the top and bottom of the stairs?
  • Will any radiators need to be moved, windowsills trimmed?
  • What features do you require?
  • Can you operate a swivel lever comfortably or would a powered swivel be better? Would you benefit from a raised seat?
  • Would you like your stairlift to be customised?
  • What upholstery would you like, which options would you prefer for convenience such as a footrest fold button?

Once these factors that affect pricing have been considered, our consultant can give you a accurate quotation for your stairlift that will include all preparation work and installation, plus 2 years free warranty* including expert after care and advice, security and peace of mind with our 24/7 call out, all backed with the Stannah Promise.

Pricing FAQs

Are stairlifts tax exempt?

The vast majority of stairlift customers are eligible for a VAT exemption. There are two types of VAT exemption which provide discounts to eligible customers. View our VAT eligibility guide for more information.

Can I get funding for my stairlift?

There is not an official stairlift grant, however, if you are eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant, it is possible to get your stairlift installation partially funded by your local council. Visit our grants for stairlifts guide for more information.

Will I need to pay for servicing?

Like most mechanical appliances we recommend that you service your stairlift once a year. Once your warranty period has expired during which all your servicing needs are covered, we are happy to offer annual service contracts to ensure your stairlift continues to perform at its best.

How much does it cost to run a stairlift

After the initial cost, customers often worry about the running costs of a stairlift as an additional expense. A Stannah stairlift costs around £7.26 per year to run. Our infographic below offers a fun comparison of just how affordable this really is:
