Is your staircase straight or curved

Staircases come in all shapes and sizes. At Stannah, we conduct a full survey on your stairs to ensure the tightest fit possible for the rail. Below are some examples of different types of staircases.

Images 1 and 2 illustrate straight staircases and we offer an aluminuim rail which would be attached to the stairtreads and is available in either a silver or bronze finish.

The final four images show different types of staircases that would need a bespoke curved rail.  Image 3 shows a spiral staircase, image 4 is a curved staircase with a fan, image five is a curved staircase with a quarter landing and image six is of a curved staircase with a half landing.

All our curved rails are made from steel, finished in a pearl colour. They are manufactured bespoke to the measurements of your individual staircase to ensure a perfect fit when attached to your stairtreads.

With staircases that have a platform or landing, such as in images 5 & 6, we would recommend a curved stairlift rather than two straight railed stairlifts to eliminate the need for a mid flight transfer, which is the safest option.

Stannah stairlifts may be installed onto either side of the stairs, subject to the survey, as the rail is fitted to the stairtread not the wall.
