At Stannah our commitment to quality, service and manufacturing means your safety is always 
paramount to us. We ensure that all our products go through rigorous testing and analysis to ensure critical factors of safety are achieved throughout the design and manufacture process.
We were the first stairlift manufacturer to obtain full qualification to British Standard BS5776 for safety and reliability which every single stairlift we sell complies fully with.
We are also members of the Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) and committed to its objectives, including upholding the highest standards of quality, design and workmanship.
Safety checks in your home
We carry out a full risk assessment on your house to determine any hazards involved in the installation or functioning of a stairlift. If your property isn’t suitable for a stairlift, our consultants offer alternative solutions. we will never compromise your safety by selling you a stairlift if it is inappropriate to do so.
Safety features on our products
On our latest models, like the Sofia, we also have developed unique safety features to make it easier for you to use:
Footrest that easily folds away
The footrest, seat and arms fold in one movement, which is an important safety consideration, particularly at the top of the stairs.
Seat load sensor
The unique seat load sensor on our Sofia and Solus ensures the stairlift will not start moving until you are comfortably seated.
Two way power swivel
This enables the chair to swivel to the safest position at both the top and bottom of the stairs, particularly useful in tight spaces.
Easy-to-use seat belt
The seatbelt has been designed so that it can be fastened with only one hand and easily slots into place.
