A guide to stairlift prices

When it comes to stairlift prices, not all stairlifts are the same. Your home and your stairs will require a bespoke solution and we pride ourselves on delivering a solution suited to your individual circumstances.

How much does a stairlift cost?

To give you an accurate price, we’ll need to have an assessor come and measure your staircase – looking at the length of rail required, whether your staircase is straight or curved, and a number of other factors.

Our brand new straight stairlift prices start from around £2500 and with custom options can cost up to around £4000. Our curved stairlifts, with their bespoke rails to hug your stairs, start at £4500 and, depending on complexity and options, can cost up to around £7000 for a single storey unit. In some exceptional circumstances or for more than one floor costs may be more. Our reconditioned and rental units offer even more cost effective solutions and our friendly team will be happy to talk you through the options.

Our prices include full installation and the price we quote is the price you pay with no hidden extras (see terms and conditions). We don’t inflate our prices just so we can discount them later, we don’t offer any ‘only if you buy today’ deals, we simply offer honest prices that reflect the first class quality of our products and services.

Call us today on 0800 715 485 to arrange an appointment and obtain an accurate cost.

Typically, we can have an assessor out to you in 1-2 days.

Our stairlifts and rails are bespoke and made to the highest quality standards, which means it takes around 3-10 days for a straight stairlift to be installed and 14 days or less for a curved rail.

"I love my Stannah stairlift because it gets me upstairs to my house. It is invaluable when I have messages to carry."

Pricing FAQs

Are stairlifts tax exempt?

The vast majority of stairlift customers are eligible for a VAT exemption. There are two types of VAT exemption which provide discounts to eligible customers. View our VAT eligibility guide for more information.

Can I get funding for my stairlift?

There is not an official stairlift grant, however, if you are eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant, it is possible to get your stairlift installation partially funded by your local council. Visit our grants for stairlifts guide for more information.

Will I need to pay for servicing?

Like most mechanical appliances we recommend that you service your stairlift once a year. Once your warranty period has expired during which all your servicing needs are covered, we are happy to offer annual service contracts to ensure your stairlift continues to perform at its best.

How much does it cost to run a stairlift?

After the initial cost, customers often worry about the running costs of a stairlift as an additional expense. A Stannah stairlift costs around £7.26 per year to run.
